Trade Show Beware
When shopping for trade show booths and displays online you need to make sure you don’t fall victim for some of these borderline deceitful practices.
1) Lowball prices. Engine not included.
Many sites will tempt you will absurdly low prices for their trade show products. For example, more than one popular site advertises 10 foot pop up booths for less than $800. Of course, at that price you don’t get a carrying case or lights — fairly essential equipment if you are planning on transporting your booth or displaying your products!
Be sure you ask the seller what comes included with the price. That way you make equal comparisons when using different vendors.
2) Very expensive graphic charges.
Here’s a trade secret: The big money is not in selling you a booth — especially now that the margins are shrinking due to increased distributors. The big money is in selling you graphics. Be sure to ask about all the graphic charges before you buy that booth or banner stand.
3) High shipping and handling charges.
This does not appear to be abused very often by online sellers. However, many vendors are willing to give you either free or reduced shipping in order to get your business. Be sure to ask about the shipping and handling charges which can be anywhere from 8% - 20% of the total product cost.
